Our Story

Uncle Rail’s comedy career began in 1998 when he discovered his passion for telling others about his life while making people laugh. This "hobby" quickly lead to the birth of his entertainment venture, Back Porch Productions. In 1999, he began a weekly stand-up show called “Funny Blue Monday” that ran successfully for 11 years, garnering recognition all over the Chicagoland area. Uncle Rail’s fan base expanded beyond his wildest dreams, and in 2013 he created one of the longest-running stand-up comedy events to exist, Comedy Jams at Condessa. Though the location has changed, the show continues every month with large crowds gathering for food, live music, and great entertainment.

Outside of Uncle Rail’s personal shows, he has also opened for The O’Jays, Patti LaBelle, Anita Baker, The Temptations, Johnny Gill, The Spinners, Doug E. Fresh, Slick Rick, and MC Lyte just to name a few. The House of Blues, the Star Plaza Theater, the Chicago Theater, the UIC Pavilion, the Arie Crown Theatre the Underground in Atlanta, the Improvs in Jacksonville, South Beach, and Houston, and many other locations have all housed Uncle Rail’s legendary show expanding his fan base throughout the country.
